In the beginning was the vine.

Our winery in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee

For over 20 years, Sem Kegley and Georg Lexer have been cultivating wine together on Lake Wörthersee. Today, their approximately 10 hectares of vineyards stretch across steep and flat slopes as well as terraces, where Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Zweigelt and Pinot Noir grapes grow – carefully tended, hand-picked and harvested with respect for the soil and nature.

The grapes. The vines. The terroir.

Carinthia belongs to the "Bergland" wine region and is divided into six distinct sub-regions. Besides the well-known Lavanttal valley, Klagenfurt-Wörthersee & Central Carinthia has also successfully established itself as a quality wine region. Primary rock soils and the climate typical of this region favor fruit-forward wines that reflect the terroir – and the people.

Like people, so is wine.

Sem P Kegley

Born in Austin, Texas in 1952, Sem grew up in the countryside. From an early age, he was influenced by nature, a down-to-earth attitude, and a keen sense of harmony – initially in music. He studied music in Georgetown, Texas, Wichita, Kansas, and later in Vienna, where he worked for the music publisher Doblinger for 32 years.

Sem discovered his love for wine as a self-taught winemaker: a path of trial and error, shaped by passion and curiosity. In 1995, he planted his first vineyard in Karnburg, in the Amerika vineyard, in 1997 he vinified his first wine, and in 1998 the first quality wine of Carinthia followed – a milestone for the still young wine region of Carinthia.

Georg M. Lexer

Born in 1986 in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee, Georg grew up directly in the landscape that would later shape his wines. After studying at the Medical University of Graz and the Graz University of Technology, he discovered his passion for viticulture – initially as a side project on his grandfather's land, together with Sem Kegley.

In the process, Georg discovered not only a fascination for wine, but also a love for spirits and finally for culinary arts, which he now lives out on the Leiten.
